Nanaca Crash

The Scoop: I love Nanaca Crash. LOVE IT. It’s one of those arcade-style flash games that seems like a shallow time-waster at first, but the more you play, the more layers of depth you uncover, until you discover you’ve just spent the last 2+ hours playing.

The basic premise is similar to the penguin tossing games that used to be popular. You crash your bike into an unsuspecting anime character, and via timing determine the angle and power with which he’ll be launched. From there, the goal is to keep his flight running as long as possible.

Every 10 meters you’ll pass over (or if you’re lucky/unlucky, run into) a character standing on the street. Some will give you bonuses and launch you further down the screen. Others will slow you down, or have other effects. You’ll occasionally come across crazy combinations and special power moves that will truly send you flying. Without spoiling exactly how, I once got launched 2000 meters in one special launch.

The game is addicting for a couple of reasons. For one, it has a lot of hidden depth. I’m still occasionally coming across very hard-to-run-into power-ups and game wrinkles, and I’ve spent hours with the game. For another, it’s just got a strong (much stronger than normal) element of “just one more launch” – you always feel like, with a good run, you can beat your previous high scores.

Nanaca Crash has been called “the most addictive browser game of all time,” – so play at your own risk.
