The Scoop: Multitask is probably the first game I’ve spotlighted on TFG that I’m really, truly horrible at. I’m far from a videogame “pro,” but I’ve been gaming for 20 years now… I like to think I’m ahead of the curve. But for whatever reason, this one just makes me feel inadequate. Yet like an abused wife, I keep coming back for more.
The basic premise is to stay alive as long as possible, while playing multiple simple minigames at the same time. It starts with just one – balance a ball on a ledge using the left and right keys. Soon another task is added, which you have to do while balancing the ball. Then a third, and (I’m told) even a fourth, although I never survived that long myself.
The whole experience is a little on the shallow side. It would be nice if the game gave you a judgement about your rankings, so I would know if my 53-second high score was terrible, or REALLY terrible. Another idea might be to pull your four tasks from a pool of 10 or so, so you are kept on your toes each time a new one is added.
