The Scoop: Stair Dismount is an internet mainstay, linked and re-linked across message boards and IRC channels every few months. The game was originally released in 2002, and is notable for being one of the earliest examples of ragdoll physics in a videogame.
The basic premise is to push an (intentionally?) dummy-ish man down a flight of stairs in the most violent way possible. Bonus points for causing lots of damage to the head and neck. Really.
Gamers can choose from one of several viewing angles, the body part they want to shove (leg, arm, torso, head, neck, etc), and the angle they want to shove it. Then just select the force of your push, and watch your man go tumbling down the flight of stairs, and watch the points roll in.
Although playing for a high score is fun, equally fun is just coming up with neat ways to manipulate your ragdoll. Shoving arms and legs at awkward angles can lead to some pretty amusing spins and flips.
My high score is 147,349. Can you do better?
