The Scoop: Death Dice Overdose is a cute little arcade-style flash game. It isn’t going to win any awards, but the combination of its amusing premise and colorful, highscore-based gameplay kept me coming back for multiple sessions.

In DDO, the Gods are gambling with your life. What amuses me is that this premise manifests itself in a quite literal way – dice are falling from the sky – touch one, and it’s game over. Naturally, the site of giant killer dice falling from the sky causes our little stick figure protagonist to go a little crazy, so you’ll need to collect pills that pop up around the screen to keep your sanity meter in check.

If you collect enough pills, you can actually overdose. This makes things get… a little weird. (See screenshot above).

Occasionally special dice fall, which produce a random obstacle to avoid – an explosion, a cyclone, a falling meteor, etc.

…that’s basically it. Run around, avoid the dice, collect pills, experience psychedelic colors. It’s not very deep, and it can be frustrating that one hit kills you. But I was still compelled to play several times, in an attempt to best my previous high score.
